RED WINE

Tasting Notes by Andrew Jefford,

Contributing Editor of Decanter

"Deep red.

"Savoury, herbal, soft, gentle -- smells very Rhodanien in a quiet and undemonstrative way.  Savoury and appetising.

"Soft yet textured, bramble fruit with lots of herbal undertow and some liquorice.  Highly drinkable and takes a light chill very well (brings out the soft tannins).  Just a touch dry, but that might well be the vintage (this is a very good effort for the vintage).  Poised and elegant.  Not particularly concentrated, but very good flavour disposition.  True herbs-and-stones flavour.  Bravo."

Cuvée Le Gentleman 2011, AOC Ventoux

Gold Medal, Concours of AOC Ventoux 2013

Our flagship red wine, made from grapes selected from the best and oldest vines; 70% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre and 5% Carignan.

Aged for 20 months before bottling, with a light touch of oak.

The wine is complex. It has a round nose rich in woodland fruit, with a hint of oak. The palate is full and succulent, with fresh cherries and notes of the garrigue -Provençal herbs- and spice. Its tannins complement the length and balance of the sweet wild fruit and give a rounded full finish.

Named as an homage to all the men who has completed the ascent of Mont Ventoux by bike, and to celebrate Bradley Wiggins’ 2012 Tour de France win.

Ready to drink now, but with ageing potential.
