White Tradition 2022,

AOC Ventoux

Organic Wine

93/100 by Jamie Goode, Winewriter,

Lecturer, wine columnist, author, PHD in plant biology

Appearance

Pale white colour.

Terroir

Altitude between 120-140m.  Well-drained clay-limestone soil.  The predominance of the Mistral (North wind) provides good aeration and natural protection against disease.

Viticulture & Vinification

Our organic viticulture seeks to be in harmony with the earth, with organic fertilisation and minimal use of sprays. The vines have trellising and are pruned using Cordon de Royat.

The grapes are hand-picked and the grape must is fermented at low temperatures to extract the natural flavours of the grapes.

Aroma

Fresh nose, high floral tone with hints of pear and tropical fruit.

Palate

Organoleptic description

A wine of finesse and power, giving harmonious expression to our sense of the Ventoux terroir.

An aromatic intensity giving notes of white flowers and nuts. Fresh and mineral on the palate. The Grenache and Roussanne provide roundness and mouthfeel, while the acidity perfectly balances the richness. Mineral and long with a crisp and savoury finish.

Serving suggestions

A wine which will develop and become richer as it ages.  Perfect on its own or with chicken, richer fish and seafood and creamy cheeses.

Quote from Jamie Goode

"Organic. Grenache blanc 60%, Roussanne 25%, Clairette 5%, Rolle 5%, Bourboulenc 5%. This is very bright, fresh, stony and lively. Wet stones underpin the alert citrus fruit with a tapering, slightly salty finish. Lots of brightness and precision here. Such focus. 93/100"
