Rosé Wine, Olive Oil & Gold Medal

ROSE 2018 AND 2019

We bottled the 2019 rosé La Minette this week. It is a similar blend to the 2018 rosé, 85% Cinsault, 10% Grenache rouge and 5% Mourvèdre.

The result is a very pale rosé, fruity and fresh.

Normally the wine loses some of its bouquet and depth of flavour for several weeks after bottling ("bottle shock") and then it comes back. This time, opening a bottle a day after its shock showed more aroma than expected which is a very promising sign.

However, we do not expect to release this wine until early summer when it should be coming to its best.

The 2018 rosé La Minette is drinking brilliantly and we understand is going down very well on the terraces of a 5 star hotel we supplied in a famous ski resort. It’s getting better all the time.

Both 2018 and 2019 rosés are organic and only 12% alcohol yet both are voluptuous, mineral, fresh and sustain an amazing length on the palette.

FIRST OLIVE OIL!

We have 11 mature olive trees on the Domaine as well as 50 immature recently planted trees, all organically cultivated.

We picked the olives from these trees and had them pressed in the village’s olive oil mill. We harvested over 60kg of olives which generated 10 litres of oil, produced in a blend with oil extracted from other olives brought to the press that day by people in the locality.

The oil is fresh, fruity and peppery with a hint of artichoke. We have bottled the first harvest, we hope there will be much more to come in the future.

VINTUR TAKES PRIZE AT TOP ORGANIC WINE SHOW

Domaine Vintur is honoured to have been awarded a gold medal at Millésime Bio, the World Organic Wine Fair.

Cuvée Séléné 2017, Vintur’s reserve white, won gold in competition with organic wines from 13 countries including prestigious white producing regions of France such as Condrieu and Hermitage.

Vintur was exhibiting at the show for the first time, having begun conversion to organic viticulture in 2013 and gaining formal organic status for its wines for the 2017 vintage onwards. The show was at the end of January 2020 in Montpellier with around 1,300 exhibitors.
